October 1, 2009 - Andy Murray announced today his withdrawal from next week's Japan Open because of a left wrist injury. Murray claims to have injured his wrist during Great Britain's Davis Cup loss to Poland last month.
The World Number 3 is hoping to make a full recovery in time for the Shaghai Masters next month.
U.S. Open's 2009 champion Juan Martin del Potro from Argentina will be the highest ranked player at the Japan Open this year. Del Potro was the runner up at the 2008 Japan Open, losing to Tomas Berdych, who also returns to defend his title.
