Due to the earlier rain dealy, it was nearly 7:30 pm when the day's final two matches took to the courts of the Michael Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.

The No. 6 seeded University of Florida women took the doubles point and wins at Nos. 4, 5, and 6 to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday. Vanderbilt got a win from Taka Bertrand at No. 3 singles to avoid the shutout. Gator Marrit Boonstra's clinching win over Keilly Ulery was completed indoors due to lighting problems.

The defending national champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dropped the doubles point, but scored four straight-set victories in singles to eliminate the feisty 17-32 seed Texas Longhorns 4-2. Texas briefly held a 2-0 lead after Sarah Lancaster downed Noelle Hickey 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6, but Christy Striplin at No. 4, Kristi Miller at No. 1 and Amanda McDowell at No. 2 brought Tech to the verge, and Kirsten Flower's 6-4, 6-4 win over Maggie Mello gave them a berth in the quarterfinals.
