In December, Tennis Magazine's Peter Bodo was in Bradenton to research a feature on Nick Bollettieri, which is scheduled for print in the March issue (I don't have mine yet, although I guess it's out). An excerpt of the story appears today on tennis.com, and although I don't claim to really know Nick Bollettieri, it certainly rings true from what I've observed. I'm not really sure what Bodo's feature has to do with Ryan and Christian Harrison, other than the fact that they are now training at Bollettieri's, but there are three videos of their daily routines. Ryan Harrison and his physical therapist discuss his back injury, Christian Harrison is shown working on his forehand, and Bollettieri doesn't indulge in any outlandish predictions about their futures.
The news today out of Surprise, Arizona, is that Melanie Oudin is going to play singles on Saturday for the U.S. Fed Cup team. She will take on Argentina's top player, Gisela Dulko, in the second match Saturday. Jill Craybas will play Betina Jozami in the opening singles, according to this AP story. Peter Bodo isn't too impressed with the Fed Cup team the U.S. is fielding, according to this piece on espn.com.
Erwin Ong of the tennis fashion blog Tennis Served Fresh recently posted a slightly off-topic feature on Sam Querrey, which was written by Krystle Russin. It's a great read, and a reminder that one size of player development does not fit all.
