I've had my travel challenges before and an inordinate number of them seem to involve Mobile, but Friday's ordeal was that of which national headlines (and congressional hearings are made).
A freak snowstorm hit Memphis, of all places, and we were between gate, de-icing, tarmac, re-fueling and runway for six hours on a Northwest flight, without food or any water for the first five hours (no food was ever served). Of course the famous JetBlue incident last year was on every passenger's mind, but most were good-natured and patient, at least until the fourth hour.
I won't bore you with anymore whining, but the flight, scheduled to land in Gulfport at 3:55 pm got in at 9:50pm and we waited another hour for our luggage, which followed on a later flight. It's very cold here--around 40 degrees with a stiff breeze--so the southern warmth and the blooming azaleas seem very far away indeed.
I'll have another post tomorrow morning, more tennis-related, I promise.
