Two of the best juniors in the U.S., Madison Brengle and Ryan Thacher, are the subjects of stories by two big-time media outlets. Bonnie DeSimone of ESPN.com caught up with Brengle in advance of the $50K Pro Circuit event in Indian Harbour Beach, Fla. and gets the question that some of you have asked answered. The Los Angeles Times features Ryan Thacher today, focusing on his determination to balance academic and athletic achievement. I don't believe that what Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe did in the 70s has much relevance to the professional tennis world as it exists today, but I agree wholeheartedly with Thacher when he says:

"One reason I'm excited about going to college is I think it's one of the greatest things America has to offer," Thacher said. "Not only academically, but tennis too. Nowhere else are you getting the constant attention on the court, the guaranteed matches. I feel that needs to be emphasized as the course of action for tennis players."
